Course outline and outcomes:

There are a number of processes that are constantly happening in a cell and many of these fundamental physiological processes have fascinated scientists over the years but there remains much to be understood. The topics covered include cell to cell communication, signalling, homeostasis and how gradients are built and dissipated. Each topic covered will have a history, our current understanding and some of the outstanding questions that we can (would like to) pursue. The techniques that were introduced when studying these processes will also be discussed. The course will thus give students a broader perspective of the biological processes and provide them with in depth understanding on some of these processes.
